Slurs

b. 13-16

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No L.H. slurs in Atut (→FE)

Slurs in bars 14-16 in GE1 (→GE2) & EE

Slurs in bars 13-16 in GE3

..

In Atut (→FE), there are no slurs in the L.H., which, taking into account the complete slurring of analogous bars 17-20, must be considered an inaccuracy of notation. Both in GE1 (→GE2) and EE, in the L.H. the slurs of the R.H. were repeated. In the main text, we also add slurs in the L.H.; however, we take into consideration the slur in bars 13-14, encompassing the entire motif and most probably intended by Chopin. Such a solution was introduced already in GE3

b. 24-25

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Slur in Atut (→FEEE)

Slur in GE1 (→GE2)

No slur in GE3

..

It is difficult to say what the cause for a later beginning of the slur in GE1 and for its omission in GE3 was. In the case of GE1, the compliance between Atut and FE suggests that it is most probably inaccuracy.

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Slur in Atut, contextual interpretation

Slur in FE (→EE)

Slur in GE

..

The range of the slur of Atut is unquestionable, although it reaches neither the first nor the last note of the phrase. However, in FE, the ending of the slur was reproduced incorrectly; in GE, attempts were taken to correct it.

b. 28-29

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Slur to A in FE (→GE,EE)

Slur to f in Atut, contextual interpretation

..

Bar 28 ends a page in Atut, which contributed to ambiguities in the slurring in the L.H. – the slur at the end of bar 28 clearly suggests continuation; however, it was not concluded in bar 29. Taking into account the fact that the 1st note in bar 29 is provided with a staccato mark, in the main text we draw the slur to that note.

b. 31-32

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Slur in Atut

No slur in FE (→GE,EE)

..

The missing slur is most probably an oversight of the engraver of FE (→GE,EE).
