Chopin introduced a number of changes when correcting FE, also in performance markings. Here, however, it is almost certain that the hairpin was accidentally reversed by the engraver. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , Sign reversal |

The slurs and ties of A, unambiguous in their meaning and extent, became somewhat distorted in the editions. In GE, due to the fact that bar 10 marked the beginning of a new line of text, the tie sustaining f2 had to be divided into two parts; although the part from bar 10 was accidentally omitted, the meaning of the curved lines printed in bars 9-10 remained unchanged and easy to guess. In FE (→EE), the earlier commenced slur seems to be a continuation of the tie from bar 9, which definitely suggests a change of meaning. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , Errors in GE |

The tight spacing in GE seems to be the reason for increasing inaccuracies in the extent of the hairpins in FE and EE. In the latter, the sign has the form of an inverted accent. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , EE inaccuracies |
