b. 1

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

A staccato dot in A

No dot in GE (→FEEE)

The editors' variant proposal

..

The absence of the dot is probably due to oversight on the part of the engraver of GE. Still, as we cannot rule out the possibility that the correction was made by Chopin, we give the dot in parentheses as optional.

b. 4

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

Without an accent in A (→GEFE)

A long accent added in EE

..

In EE, a long accent was added under b flat2, probably on the basis of the sign visible in FE in analogous bar 28.

b. 5

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

A long accent in A (→GE2) and FE

A short accent in GE1 and EE

..

The accent over a1 is doubtless a long one in A; this is testified by the change made in GE2 (probably after a repeated analysis of A). The sign in FE is not quite clear, yet it resembles a long accent more than a short one. In spite of that, EE has a short accent over the note in question.

b. 6

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

in A (→GE)

in FE (→EE)

..

Chopin introduced a number of changes when correcting FE, also in performance markings. Here, however, it is almost certain that the hairpin was accidentally reversed by the engraver.
