No dynamic mark in A (→GEFEEE)

A dynamic marking entered in FEFr

The editors' variant proposal

Chopin very rarely used the marking  ; instead, he would normally write m.v. (mezza voce). This brings a shade of doubt as to the authenticity of the sign that Franchomme used. However, this does not mean that the dynamics level indicated by that sign is contrary to Chopin's intentions that Franchomme could know by e.g. listening to Chopin's performances.
