In A (→GE→FE→EE) there is a cautionary before the 5th semiquaver g flat2 . We do not give that sign in the main text as the harmonic background – the simultaneous g flat in the L.H. – precludes the possibility of playing g2 that could cross the performer's mind because of the close imitation of the upper voice. Cf. bar 71.
