Hairpin up to 3rd quaver in FE (→GE)

No hairpin in EE1 (→EE2)

Hairpin above R.H. in EE3

Hairpin to 4th quaver suggested by the editors

..

The hairpin placed in FE (→GE) is imprecise: it ends at the level of the 3rd quaver in the bar. We suggest prolonging the mark to the end of the phrase. The engraver of EE1 (→EE2) completely overlooked the hairpin. It was only just the reviser of EE3 that added it (over the R.H.).

Dashes in bar 25 in FE (→EE)

No dashes in GE

Dashes up to bar 27 suggested by the editors

..

In FE (→EE), the dashes marking the range of crescendo are present only in bar 25. It must be an inaccuracy, most probably caused by the transition into a new line – marking the range of cresc. on such a short section would not make sense. That conclusion is confirmed by analogous bars 29-30, in which the dashes are led until . In GE, the markings were completely omitted in both analogous places.

b. 31-32

composition: Op. 16, Rondo in E♭ major

No accents in FE (→GE)

1 accent in EE

Our variant suggestion

..

The missing two accents on the penultimate semiquaver in the R.H. in bar 31 and the 3rd semiquaver in bar 32 may be an oversight of the engraver of FE or of Chopin himself. We suggest adding those marks like it is in analog. bars 33 and 34. One accent, in bar 31, was added by the reviser of EE.

b. 33

composition: Op. 16, Rondo in E♭ major

in FE (→EE)

in GE

..

The hairpin of FE (→GE,EE) starts from the middle of the bar (in GE, the engraver also overlooked the cresc. indication). We consider it to be a possible inaccuracy of the engraver or an imprecise nature of Chopin's notation and we suggest a mark beginning slightly earlier like in similar bar 31.

Slur from a1 in FE (→GE,EE)

Slur from g1 suggested by the editors

..

The slur of FE (→GE,EE) is most probably inaccurate, perhaps due to an imprecisely drawn slur of [A]. The musical sense requires all slurs in this and the next bar to have the same range. We presume a natural assumption that it is the slurs that encompass the entire virtuoso scale led in the interval of sixth that are correct, hence the bottom one in bar 35 and the top one in bar 36.
