Slurs
b. 213-214

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

The earlier beginning of the slur in GE1 (→FE→EE) has no musical justification and is an example of the schematic approach to slurs of the engraver of GE1. The simultaneous oversight of the staccato dot at the beginning of bar 213 in this edition probably contributed to the fact that the erroneous range of this slur was not detected in later editions. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , GE revisions |

The two-bar slur, present in GE (→FE→EE), does not bear traces of corrections in print; therefore, we assume that it was an arbitrary decision of the engraver of GE1. However, taking into consideration the fact that the slur does not distort the phrasing in this place at all, and Chopin's possible proofreading cannot be entirely excluded, we regard this version as an equal variant to two slurs of A. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE |

Breaking the slur – contrary to the unmistakable notation of A – is an inaccuracy of the engraver of GE1, who did not take care of an appropriate extension of the slur at the end of the line (in bar 222) and an earlier start at the beginning of the next one (in bar 223). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE |

The missing slur in the majority of the editions is certainly a result of inaccuracy of the engraver of GE1. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE , GE revisions |
