In the main text we include the slur for the L.H. added in a proofreading of GE – cf. an analogous slur in A in bars 91-92 – even though it is not entirely certain whether it was added by Chopin. The undoubtedly erroneously shortened slur in the R.H. in FE made the reviser of EE perform a similar change in the part of the L.H. Both source versions of the slurring of this phrase were written by Chopin in A: two slurs in the discussed place, one in analogous bars 92-93. The slur in GE (→FE→EE) was corrected, perhaps by Chopin, however, the change applied not to the correctly rendered slurs of A but to other, erroneous slurring – the traces indicate that the original slur reached the 2nd crotchet in bar 3. The slur of GE1 (→FE) is clearly erroneous (put one crotchet too far), which was corrected by the revisers of EE and GE2. In A the vast majority of the beginnings of the slurs in the L.H., both in the figures embracing the whole bar and in the half-bar ones, does not include the bass note, usually provided with a staccato dot.
