b. 293

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I
..
When interpreted literally, the slur of A runs from the 3rd to the 14th demisemiquaver. The patent inaccuracy did not mislead the engraver of GE (→FE→EE), who embraced the whole group with the slur. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccurate slurs in A |

b. 295-296

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

The slurs of A are not entirely clear; however, it is difficult to assume that Chopin would like to end a slur before resolving the suspension, particularly since a similar measure was present already in the previous bar. In spite of this, GE1 (→FE→EE) includes slurs embracing three notes only, which was corrected in GE2. In the main text we also add a slur in the analogous figure in bar 296. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccurate slurs in A , GE revisions |

It is difficult to say how the replacement of the slurs of A, natural in this context, with one whole-bar slur in GE1 (→FE→EE) occurred. One of the possibilities is Chopin's proofreading, but leaving accents on every second note results in the fact that the effect of the change of slurring is barely aurally perceptible. Therefore, in the main text we adopt the undoubtedly authentic slurs of A. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions , Authentic corrections of GE |
