Taking into account the authentic slur in analogous bar 225, one can consider that the missing slur in this bar should be added – this was probably the reasoning of the reviser of EE. On the other hand, it cannot be excluded that Chopin consciously resigned from writing separate slurs for the L.H. in similar figurations – cf. the note in bar 227. In the main text we suggest a slur for the L.H. mainly due to a necessary, according to us, addition of the slur in bars 231-232.

According to us, the figuration in the L.H., starting slightly earlier than the one in the R.H., requires a separate slur. Therefore, we suggest a respective addition in the main text, taking as an example the beginning of the slur in the L.H. in an analogous situation in bar 227 and the slur in the R.H. in the discussed bars. A similar idea was most probably pursued by the revisers of GE2.

The slur in these bars was reproduced in GE1 (→FE→EE) very inaccurately – it starts already from the chord at the beginning of the bar, and further on it is divided into three sections embracing bar 235 and each halves of bar 236. The correct notation was returned in GE2.
