The  hairpin in bars 17-18 is written in GC (by Chopin?) in a way that is impossible to literally reproduce it in print and at the same time its meaning is ambiguous. Are the signs supposed to concern both voices of the R.H. or only one (which?)? Not having found a satisfactory answer to these questions, in the main text we adopt a solution applied by Chopin in similar bars 33-36. We also suggest adding a hairpin in bars 19-20. In the remaining sources the signs are absent, except for GE (and EE2) in bar 18.

In FE1 two mistakes were committed in this bar, corrected in the subsequent impressions: on the 4th quaver of the bar there is a1-e2 instead of g1-e2 and f1-g2 instead of f1-f2 on the 6th quaver. The remaining sources include the correct text (in GC one can see a correction of the top note on the 4th quaver of the bar from f2 to e2).

The  hairpin, present in GC (→GE, added also in EE2), is suggested by us in the main text in a variant form, as it is highly likely that a later dynamic indication of FE (→EE) in bars 22-24 may be considered to be complete, defining the next pair of dynamically contrasted bars – cf. bars 17-20.
