b. 234

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

Slur in GC, FE (→EE) & GE2

No slur in GE1

..

The absence of the first slur is certainly an engraver's mistake, corrected in GE2.

b. 234

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

    in GC & EE

   in FE

No pedalling in GE

..

The absence of the last  sign in FE is most probably an oversight of the engraver of FE (the sign was added in EE). We also regard as an undoubted mistake the total omission of the pedalling in GE (cf. the note on the accent).

b. 236

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

a1 in chord in GC (→GE1)

f1 in FE (→EE) & GE2

..

The version of GC (→GE1) is certainly erroneous – the double stroke of the same note (a1) by the L.H., unjustified by the voice leading, does not make any sense, as far as the piano technique is concerned. It is worth observing that the copyist initially wrote a chord within the correct, one octave, span, yet with a double Terzverschreibung error – a-c1-e1-a1. He then corrected it, yet only partially.

b. 239

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

B1-B in the sources

B2-B1 suggested by the editors

..

The descending bass line in two previous bars suggests the use of a B2-Boctave, absent in the pianos being at Chopin's disposal (the range of his instruments reached C1).

b. 241

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

..

FE1 features an Fas the bottom most note of the chord. The patent in this context mistake was corrected in FE2 (→EE,FE3FE4). In GE1 the chord was also printed with a mistake, entirely omitting the correct bass note (the bottom most note is an F). The remaining sources include the correct version.
