b. 61

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

No dot in GC (→GE) & FE

Staccato dot in EE

..

The staccato dot over the 1st octave was most probably added by Chopin in the base text to EE. According to us, the aim of its addition could have been a sui generis correction of a too early started slur – see the note above. Therefore, choosing the suggested by us alternative version of the slur, one does not have to take this dot into consideration.

b. 66-68

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

Slurs in GC (→GE) & EE2

No slurs in FE (→EE1)

..

The slurs in bars 66 and 68 were most probably added in GC (→GE) by Chopin, they were also repeated in EE2 after GE. Similarly in bars 254 and 256.

b. 69-70

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

Two  signs in GC (→GE)

Two-bar  in FE (→EE)

..

One  sign in FE (→EE) is most probably an arbitrary addition of the engraver of FE.

In all sources, the pedalling is most probably written inaccurately, whereas the signs in GC (→GE) in bar 75 are certainly misplaced. In the main text, we use the notation of FE (→EE), however, we move the change of pedal in bar 74 one crotchet earlier (this possible inaccuracy, present also in GC, can be probably blamed on the unclear notation of [A]).

The  sign, written in the sources before the E1-E octave, was most probably supposed to conern the aforementioned octave (Chopin would often write the pedal's press sign before a low placed note). The notation of FE could be interpreted in such a way, however, in the remaining sources the  sign is clearly placed under the chord on the 2nd beat of the bar and not before the last octave. In the main text we correct this highly likely misunderstanding).
