b. 6-8

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

dim. - - in GC

dimi-nu-en-do in EE

No indication in FE

dimin. - - - - in GE

..

The dim. indication was added by Chopin in GC (→GE), most probably also in the base text to EE. Its absence in FE proves that Chopin probably omitted the base text to this edition at the time of completing the Stichvorlage manuscripts in these bars. Similarly  in bar 8.

b. 7-8

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

Slur in GC (→GE1)

Slur in FE, EE & GE2 (→GE3)

..

The slur of GC, contrary to FE and EE, as well as to the natural shape of the phrase – cf. bar 5 and analog. – is certainly inaccurate. Imprecise, even clearly erroneous slurs are relatively frequent in Gutmann's copies (cf., e.g., bar 9).

b. 8

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

 in GC

No sign in FE

 in EE

 in GE1

 in GE2 (→GE3)

..

The range and placement of the  sign in EE may be authentic. In turn, the gradually extended hairpins in GE are certainly a result of routine action of the engraver or reviser of this edition. Lack of the sign in FE is probably Chopin's oversight – see the note on dim.

b. 8

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

'1' in GC (→GE), FE & EE2 (→EE3)

No fingering in EE1

..

Lack of the fingering numeral in EE1 is probably an oversight of the engraver or copyist preparing the base text to this edition.

Slur in GC (literal reading→GE1)

..

The slur in GC is written very inaccurately – "boldly" – so that in GE1 it embraces also the first and last crotchet of the bar. It certainly does not correspond to Chopin's idea – cf. inaccurate slurs of GC in bar 10, where the editor did not fall into the trap, and bar 12, where he tried to interpret the dragged slur of GC. See also bars 7-8 or 79-80, as well as, e.g., the Scherzo in C minor, Op. 39, bars 344-347.
