b. 33-34

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

No indication in GC (→GE) & FE

dimi-nu-en-do- in EE

dim. - - suggested by the editors

..

There is no clear reason to doubt the authenticity of the diminuendo indication included in EE, although one cannot entirely exclude it being added by the reviser under the influence of analogy with bars 15-16. It seems to be much more likely that Chopin overlooked the discussed place, adding the performance indications in GC – bar 33 is the first on the new page of the manuscript, which could have distracted the composer.
In the main text we include the indication of EE, yet in the form in which Chopin would write similar indications in GC (division into syllables, although sometimes used by Chopin, does not seem to be authentic in EE of this Etude).

b. 49

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

in GC (→GE) & EE3

No marking in FE & EE1 (→EE2)

..

It is hard to say how the situation, in which  written in GC (→GE) most probably with the copyist's hand does not appear both in FE and EE1 (→EE2), occurred. In any case, a kind of mistake seems to be more likely (probably an oversight) than removal of this indication by Chopin.

b. 65

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

..

In GC Chopin moved the  indication between the staves – the copyist wrote it under the bottom stave. It is hard to state whether such a placement of the sign was present in the manuscript copied by Gutmann –  is between the staves both in FE and EE

b. 66-68

composition: Op. 25 No 11, Etude in A minor

cre-scen-do in GC (→GE)

cresc. - - in FE

cre-scen-do in EE

..

In the main text we give the crescendo indication on the basis of Chopin entry in GE (→GE). The version of EE constitutes only a variation of it, whereas cresc. in FE describes an already entirely different dynamic concept, which can be considered as an equal variant. The version may be even the latest, as among the indications deleted in GC the indication is not written in the place where it appears in FE.
