Title: | Douze Etudes || Étude III |
Dedication: | Madame la Comtesse d'Agoult |
While performing a new typesetting of the Etudes, Op. 25, the Breitkopf & Härtel company introduced numerous changes into the score:
-
a few mistakes and flaws of GE1 (→GE2) were corrected – the
in bar 22 was removed, added in bar 58;
- c was changed to d in bar 51;
- completion of accidentals was finished, e.g., in bars 43 and 45;
- pedalling was modified, e.g., the change of pedal on the 2nd beat in bars 19 and 24 was removed;
- range of dynamic hairpins was changed, often slightly;
- slurs were changed, e.g., in bars 66-68 and 70.
GE2 was published with two graphic variants of the cover, identical from the point of view of content. The copy presented in mUltimate Chopin features a cover in the later version, used also in GE3. Particular Etudes were also published separately, provided with a collective cover including 12 etudes each by Chopin, Henselt and Thalberg.
