We have adopted FE, which appears to be the latest authentic source in the process of publication of the Mazurka, as the basic source. We rely on A for the correction of errors and inaccuracies made by engravers. We take into account the changes and other annotations found in FED and FES, treating some of them as the expression of Chopin’s ultimate intentions as regards certain details.
