The proof, based on the lost autograph of [A], is the earliest preserved source of the Waltz. Only one copy is known, with a proofreading performed by Chopin, dedicated to GE – FEG. In the printed text of FE0
many dynamic and expressive indications are missing, which are present in the already finished editions. It contains numerous errors, most probably resulting from misinterpretation of the base text and the engraver's oversights. In a few places one can read the original versions, which were then changed by Chopin.
Most probably, an identical copy of FE0, proofread and annotated by Chopin, served also as the base text for EE and FE.
We mention FE0 in detailed notes only in order to emphasize the relations between sources.
