composition: Op. 10 No 6, Etude in E♭ minor

No a in A

..

In the main text we give the version of the last semiquaver, introduced by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE).

b. 42

composition: Op. 10 No 6, Etude in E♭ minor

e1 tied in A, GE3 (→GE4GE5), EE3 (→EE4) & FEJ

e1 repeated in FE (→EE2,GE1GE2)

..

The overlooked in FE (→EE2,GE1GE2) tie sustaining e1 was added in the remaining editions. The sign was also added in FEJ.

b. 44-45

composition: Op. 10 No 6, Etude in E♭ minor

g repeated in A

g tied in FE (→GE,EE)

..

The missing tie sustaining in A is most probably Chopin's mistake, who added it in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE). Cf. bars 12-13.

b. 45

composition: Op. 10 No 6, Etude in E♭ minor

Minim e1 in A (→FEGE1,EE)

Dotted minim in GE2 (→GE3GE4GE5)

..

The overlooked dot extending the e1 minim in A was added only in GE2 (→GE3GE4GE5). It is not a rhythmic mistake sensu stricto, yet the comparison with analogous bars 5 and 13 prove Chopin's error.

b. 46

composition: Op. 10 No 6, Etude in E♭ minor

Dotted crotchet d1 in A

Crotchet d1 in FE (→EE,GE1GE2GE3)

Dotted crotchet d1 in GE4 (→GE5)

..

Chopin wrote here d1-g1 on one stem, which probably contributed to the omission of the dot extending din FE (→EE,GE1GE2GE3). In GE4 (→GE5) a more accurate notation was applied in this bar, used by Chopin in analogous bars 6 and 14. We adopt this solution in the main text.
