Dedication: | SON AMI F. LISZT |
Second German edition in which the text of GE1 was subject to a quite detailed review:
- the erroneous in bar 45 was changed to ;
- e3 was changed to d3 in bars 12 and 52;
- incomplete pedal marks were completed in bars 10-11, 13, 16, 48, 54, 60, 66;
- a cautionary before d1 in bar 9 was added (instead of an unjustified sign before c1);
- the wedge in bar 24 was changed to a dot, while in bars 73-74 slurs in the L.H. were added.
Some of the introduced revisions are evidently erroneous, e.g., moving the marks in bars 26 and 32. Assigning the marks to the R.H. in bars 45-46 is certainly contrary to Chopin's intention. In GE2 a few, as it seems, common mistakes, e.g., omitting staccato marks in bars 25, 30 and the fingering digit at the end of bar 64, were committed.
