b. 51

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

No pedalling in A

Pedalling in FE (→GE,EE)

Our alternative suggestion

..

In the main text we give the pedalling added by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE). As an alternative we suggest the indications of FE – also based on Chopin's proofreading – from analogous bar 3.

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

No pedalling in A

Pedalling in FE (→GE,EE)

Our alternative suggestion

..

In the main text we give the pedalling of FE (→GE,EE), based on Chopin's entry in the proof copy of FE. An alternative suggestion is the version (also being a result of Chopin's proofreading in FE) included in analogous bars 4 and 12.

b. 52

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

e3 in A (→FEGE1,EE)

d3 in GE2 (→GE3GE4GE5)

..

In A Chopin erased the 9th semiquaver and wrote a different one, most probably e3, which is given here by FE (→GE1,EE). In subsequent GE,s the note was arbitrarily changed to d3.

b. 52

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

No marks in A (→FEEE2,GE1GE2GE3)

Accent in EE

Dots in GE4 (→GE5)

Long accent proposed by the editors

..

We suggest to add an accent under the 2nd quaver in the bar after Chopin's indications in analogous bars 4 and 12. The accent was also added in EE3 (→EE4) and in GE4 (→GE5) both chords were provided with staccato dots (both revisions correspond to the additions introduced in bar 12).

b. 53

composition: Op. 10 No 5, Etude in G♭ major

No pedalling in A (→FEGE,EE2EE3)

Pedalling in EE4

Our suggestion

..

We suggest to complete the pedalling on the basis of Chopin's proofreading of FE in analogous bars 5 and 13. The marks were also added in EE4, yet the  sign was put in the middle of the bar (the reviser of EE4 added  signs in both adjacent bars 53-54 and he treated them the same).
