GE4 - Fourth German edition

Publisher: Fr. Kistner
Date: 1865
Plate number: 1018. 2961
Title: Douze Grandes Etudes
Dedication: SON AMI F. LISZT

In the fourth German edition, next to the until then published form of a book with six pieces, particular Etudes were also published as single works, as a result of which each of them received an additional plate number between 2961 and 2972 and the second independent pagination. In GE4 the text of GE3 was completed, e.g., the revision process of accidentals in the figures written with an octave sign or after its end was finished. Other reviews include: further reduction of the number of abbreviated octave marks (8) and the addition of 532 fingering digits over first three notes in the R.H. in bar 42

The errors of the base text were corrected, e.g., overlooked  marks in bars 29 and 31 were added and one of the rests from bar 45 was moved to bar 46. However, new mistakes were not avoided: the accent in bar 8 was omitted, as well as the '5' fingering digit in bar 37.
