Publisher: | Wessel & Co. |
Date: | 1836-1837 |
Title: | Douze Grandes Etudes || No. I |
Dedication: | ses amis J. Liszt et Ferd. Hiller |
Impression of EE2, in which the majority of its defects were corrected, e.g., the slurs which were erroneously arranged in bars 30-31 were moved to the proper place in bars 27-28, missing performance indications were added in bars 42, 48, 64 and 69-78 and a slur over the part of the L.H. in bar 5 was arbitrarily added.
EE3 was renewed on a number of occasions with different covers. In the presented copy, a piece of information concerning the already published Etudes Op. 25 was included, hence it dates back at least to 1838. In even later copies provided only with a collective cover of the "Wessel & Co's Complete Collection of the Compositions of Frederick Chopin" series, the dedication is shortened – without "ses amis" and only with the initial of (F) Hiller.
