b. 320

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

 in EE, FE and GE1

No marking in GC & GE2

..

Since there is  in both EE and FE, its lack in GC must be the copyist's omission. Therefore it is awkward to find  in GE1. It may well be an error or revision as the marking was later removed from GE2

b. 327-335

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

in EE

in GC (→GE)

No indication in FE

..

In the main text we present dim. - - - based on the notation in GC (→GE). In EE it is written out in syllables, which is a very characteristic manner of these editions. in FE the marking is not there at all, which was most probably caused by Chopin's hasty wrirting [A2]. See annotations in bars 335 and 336.

b. 336

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

sotto voce in EE & GC (→GE)

No indication in FE

..

We believe there is little chance that Chopin consciously left out sotto voce at any stage of preparing FE.
