The version without in GC (→GE) is probably the initial version of the markings in bars 1-20. As for FE, the engraver's oversight is also possible. category imprint: Differences between sources |

A missing hairpin mark in FE is probably an oversight. We have that mark in our score, as it occurs both in EE and in GC (→GE). category imprint: Differences between sources |

b. 24-25
|
composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor
..
In the main text we give a single slur embracing bars 21-25, after EE and FE. In that latter edition, there are traces of slur correction made in print - initially the slur ended in bar 24 on the B2-B1 minim. GC (→GE) also have the shorter slur, yet it is supplemented with an additional slur linking the two last octaves of the motif. That version, definitely authentic, may be considered an alternative solution. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Authentic corrections of FE |

b. 24-26
|
composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor
..
As we not sure about Chopin's notation, for our main text we adopt the version that combines the most certain elements from various sources: three accents occur in EE and FE, and short accents in EE and GC (→GE). The omission of the accent in bar 25 in GC (→GE) is probably accidental. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Inaccuracies in GC |
