Missing in GC are three augmenting dots for all the three minims in that bar. That obvious omission was corrected in GE.

b. 41-42

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

Long accent in EE

 in GC (→GE) & FE

..

For our main text we take the  mark that occurs in two out of three sources based probably on the autograph(s) – GC and FE. However, it is not unlikely that it should be understood as a long accent, just like in EE.

b. 41-42

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

..

In FE, the upper notes of the octaves (c1 and a) are notated as a separate voice. This is probably the result of misunderstanding the niotation of the base text.

b. 42

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

 in EE

No sign in GC (→GE) & FE

The asterisk mark  can only be found in EE. We give it in our main text despite the fact that editorial revision cannot entirely be ruled out here. In practice, the pedal can be depressed a little longer, until the sustained notes c and cresound completely.

issues: No pedal release mark

b. 45

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

..

The lower note of the last octave in the R.H. is written too high in GC, looking almost like f1.
