A tie in A

No tie in EE

..

The shape of the tie drawn from the last demisemiquaver d flat2 does not clearly indicate where that tie was supposed to end. As the only note of the R.H. struck at the beginning of bar 9 is the dotted crotchet d flat2, one has no other option but to assume that the tie was meant to finish there. Such an interpretation is confirmed by a more legible notation of analogous bars 36-37. Printed in GE (→FE) is only the initial part of the tie from bar 98, which is the last bar of the page in those editions. We assume that it has the same meaning as the one we have determined for the tie of A. In EE, the discontinued tie fragment from bar 98 was omitted.

A long accent in A

A short accent in GE (→FEEE)

Our proposition

..

At the beginning of the bar, A has a long accent under e flat1. As accenting the note that is not struck is impossible on the piano, the accent mark may only refer to d flat2 in the upper voice. For the avoidance of doubt, in the main text we are moving the accent and place it above the R.H. part. GE (→FEEE) have an ordinary short accent under e flat1.

Pedalling in A (→GE2GE3)

No pedal marks in GE1 (→FEEE)

The editors'  alternative proposition

..

In A (→GE2GE3),  is placed after the 3rd crotchet. In GE1 (→FEEE), pedal marks were entirely omitted, which is definitely an error. In our opinion, the notation of A may be inaccurate, that is why we propose earlier pedal release as in analogous bars 13, 37, 45.
