b. 102

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

A dot in A (→GE2GE3)

No dot in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

In A, Chopin entered a staccato dot on the 2nd beat of the bar, quite far from the note it was meant to refer to; this was probably why the dot was omitted from GE1 (→FEEE). It was supplemented in GE2 (→GE3).

composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

No staccato mark in A (→GE1FEEE)

 A dot in GE2 (→GE3)

..

We consider the lack of the staccato dot under the bass note to be the result of Chopin's accidental omission in A (→GE1FEEE). The dot appeared in GE2 (→GE3).

The editors' proposition

..

In A (→GE1FE) there is no . The asterisk was added in EE and GE2 (→GE3) under the 3rd crotchet of the L.H. Putting the asterisk after that crotchet, suggested by the editors, reproduces Chopin's pedalling in the analogous bar 41.
