b. 134-135

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

..

In A Chopin wrote accidentals only to the first note of each pair of quavers constituting an octave – F1ag1. The respective accidental for the second quaver in each pair was added in GE (→FE,EE,IE).

In this context, there is no doubt as to the moment in which the pedal should be released (changed). Therefore, the omission of the  mark in A (→GEFE,IE) – in the light of further, complete markings – must be considered Chopin's inadvertence. The mark was added only in EE.

b. 138-139

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

..

In A there are no naturals to the last L.H. crotchet in bar 138 (a) and to the last quavers in bar 139 (e1 and e1). In GE (→FE,EE,IE) only the accidentals in bar 139 were added.

Slur from b to L.H. e1 in A, literal reading

Slur from e to L.H. e1 in GE (→EE)

Slur from e to R.H. e1 in FE & IE

..

When interpreted literally, the A slur begins from b. However, the shape of the slur suggests e as the intentional starting point of the slur, and this is how it was reproduced in the editions. We adopt this phrasing, more natural in this context, also to the main text. FE and IE assumed that the imprecise ending of the slur in GE (→EE) reaches the last quaver in the bar.
