Fingering in EE

..

In the main text we do not include the inauthentic L.H. part fingering added by EE in bars 133-135 and 138.

b. 133-134

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt I

..

As in previous bars, in A Chopin left out all necessary accidentals to the top notes of the even quavers – the naturals to a2 and e3 and the sharps to f3 (both), e3 and d3. He did not write the  raising c2 to c2 on the 7th quaver in bar 134 either. All these patent inaccuracies were corrected in GE (→FE,EE,IE).

b. 135-139

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt I

Slur in b. 135 in A, literal reading

Slur in b. 135 in GE (→FE,EE,IE)

Slur to b. 139 suggested by the editors

..

In A Chopin did not finish the slur he started writing in the preceding line in bar 135. It must be an oversight, hence in the main text we lead the slur to the beginning of bar 139, after a similar phrase in bars 119-123. The editions considered the ending of the slur in bar 135, suggesting that it should be continued, to be inaccurate, as a result of which it was led only to the last quaver in bar 135.

b. 138

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt I

No slur in A

Slur in GE (→FE,EE,IE)

..

It is difficult to consider the last of the slurs added by GE (→FE,EE,IE) – cf. bars 131-138 – to be justified, particularly when it comes to it having been written from the 1st crotchet in the bar.
