Verbal indications

b. 103-104

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

..

In EE the indication crescendo was divided into 2 parts –probably due to the engraver's arbitrary decision. On the other hand, the lack of dashes in bar 104 may be concerned as an error and a significant oversight modifying the range of crescendo.

The abbreviated indication acceler. in A is repeated only in FE. GE and EE give the indication in its full form. In EE the indication accelerando was divided into syllables, which is a characteristic feature of that edition. In FE it is likely that the shift of acceler. over the last group of quavers may be an inaccuracy of the base text's recreation.

A (→GE) and FE have the complete smorzando indication. In EE it was revised to the abbreviated smorz. form. In addition, in FE, contrary to the remaining sources, the indication was placed between the pentagrams.
