Slurs
b. 55-59
|
composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major
..
The slurs in A (→GE) in bars 55-59 begin from the 2nd crotchet in the R.H. and end at the end of the bar. In FE and EE the slurs comprise the entire bars of the L.H. – perhaps it is a residue of the original notation or it stems from imprecise slurs in the base text. FE is lacking the slur in bar 59, which is certainly an oversight. category imprint: Differences between sources |

b. 58
|
composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major
..
The slur in EE, which ends at the penultimate grace note, may be a result of Chopin's slurring, which is often imprecise, and the literal – in this particular case – interpretation of the autograph (base text). As far as the performance is concerned, the difference is not significant. FE is lacking the slur. category imprint: Differences between sources |

The slur in A undoubtedly concerns the deleted original version. The interpretation of the slur made in GE – most probably on the basis of analogous figures – is certainly correct. The slurs in FE and EE are rather inaccurate (cf. bars 55-59). category imprint: Differences between sources |
