b. 1-2

composition: Op. 28 No. 8, Prelude in F♯ minor

..

FE erroneously gives d instead of c as the last L.H. quaver in each of these bars. The errors, caused probably by this note in bar 1 being written somewhat imprecisely in A (bar 2 is marked as a repetition of bar 1 in the manuscripts), were corrected in FE2 (→EE).

Lento in GE

..

Lento could have been entered by Chopin into the proof copy of the Ballade that served as the basis for GE1. However, it is uncertain whether that copy indeed included Chopin's amendments; therefore, the authenticity of Lento remains unsure. Chopin could have hesitated between these two indications – Largo works perfectly with the initial fragment,  and pesante, whereas Lento seems to be better suited to the second phrase, played , imbued with sorrow and resignation.

b. 1

composition: Op. 23, Ballade in G minor

Title in A (→FEGE)

Title in EE

..

As in many other works by Chopin, EE arbitrarily changed the authentic title of the Ballade, calling it "La Favorite". Cf Nocturne Op. 27 No. 1.

composition: Op. 38, Ballade in F major

No title nor dedication in A

Ballade à [...] Schumann in GC (→GE) & FE

"La Gracieuse" 2de Ballade, title in EE

..

As in many other works by Chopin, EE arbitrarily changed the authentic title of the Ballade, calling it "La Gracieuse". It also omitted the dedication. Cf Nocturne Op. 27 No. 1.
The lack of title and dedication in A is presumably the result of the title page not being preserved. When writing the title page of GC, Chopin misspelled Schumann's name – "Schuhmann".

composition: Op. 23, Ballade in G minor

In A, the pesante marking is written high on the top stave, while its beginning falls over the slur. Such a placement prompted the engraver of FE to put it over the top stave; however, in the stage of proofreading FE1, the indication was moved – probably at Chopin's request – to between the staves, directly over the R.H. part.
