Issues : Authentic corrections of FE
b. 516-517
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III
..
Originally, the slur of the R.H. encompassed only bar 517, which may be observed on the basis of the traces of its proofreading, visible in FE at the beginning of this bar. category imprint: Corrections & alterations; Source & stylistic information issues: Authentic corrections of FE |

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

Missing pedalling indications in bar 528 (as well as in 529) in GE may mean that Chopin added them only just in the last proofreading of FE. In spite of that, the pedalling of FE (→EE) raises doubts – in all three analogous places (bars 155-157, 171-173 and 510-512), pedal depressed at the beginning of the theme is held incessantly to the closest harmonic change. Therefore, in the main text we suggest a variant solution, in which, if we include the markings in brackets, we obtain the actual pedalling of FE and if we omit them – the authentic pedalling of the analogous phrase in exposition (bars 171-173). category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Authentic corrections of FE |

b. 528-539
|
composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
Chopin added a 12-bar crescendo both in FC (→GE) and FE (→EE). In the main text we reproduce the notation of FC, in which the word cresc. appears in b. 528 slightly earlier (anyway, in the case of such a long dynamic change it does not actually matter). b. 529
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I
..
Like in bar 528, the pedalling could have been added in the last proofreading of FE (→EE), which explains its absence in GE. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Authentic corrections of FE |

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

In b. 531 and 535 in the main text we give the unequivocal whole-bar slurs of A (→FC→GE). However, the longer slurs of FE (→EE) are probably a result of Chopin's proofreading: there is no visible reason for which the engraver would have complicated his work with asymmetrical slurs. Therefore, they can be considered an equivalent variant. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Authentic corrections of FE |
