b. 247

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

There are no accidentals in the last group of semiquavers in the L.H. in A. In GE (→FEEE) the signs were added after the R.H. An authentic cautionary  before a2, in the editions added also before a1, draws attention.

No sign in A

 in GE (→FEEE)

..

The missing  in A is most probably Chopin's neglect. However, it is not entirely certain whether it was he that added the sign in the proofreading of GE (→FEEE).

b. 247-248

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

 signs in A

 in GE (→FEEE)

..

In both bars, we place the final  asterisks in accordance with A, in which they seem to be placed in a well-considered manner. Moving them to the end of the bar in the editions is most probably a result of inaccuracy of the engraver of GE1.

Accents in A

Accents in GE1 (→FE)

Vertical accents in EE

Accents in GE2

..

In the main text we preserve the notation of the accents of A. It almost certainly marks – in spite of the use of single signs in five out of six places – accenting of respective notes in both hands. In GE1 (→FE) the signs were moved to such an extent that they clearly refer to the R.H. In EE and GE2 all accents were placed both in the part of the R.H. and the L.H., whereas in EE they were changed to vertical accents.

Slur to bar 248 in A

Slurs in bar 247 in GE1 (→FEEE)

Slurs to bar 248 in GE2

..

Shortening the slur in the editions is certainly a result of inaccuracy of the engraver of GE1. In turn, in the case of the addition of a slur for the L.H., Chopin's proofreading cannot be entirely excluded. In GE2 both slurs were preserved, extending both in accordance with the notation of the slur in the R.H. in A.
