Issues : Errors in GE
b. 671
|
composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I
..
The version of GE, in which c2 is printed in normal font and thus included to the solo part, must be erroneous. Such mistakes in assigning particular notes to one or the other part would occur in a few places in Chopin's Concertos, e.g. in bar 486, as well as in the Concerto in F Minor, Op. 21, 3rd mov., bars 30-32. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Errors in GE |

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

The absence and change of the staccato mark in GE1 (→GE2) is probably a result of carelessness of the engraver. A dot for the R.H. was added in GE3. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Errors in GE , GE revisions , Wedges |

b. 677

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

The missing fingering digit in GE could be explained by it having been added by Chopin in the last proofreading of FE. However, the fact of having left a few mistakes, particularly the wrong note at the beginning of the bar, rather suggests that the composer did not address that bar in the last phase of work on the text of FE and that GE simply overlooked the digit. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors in GE |

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

The missing staccato dot in FE (→EE) and GE must be a result of oversights. We can excuse the engraver of GE, since the dot in FC looks like the ending of the octave's stem and is hard to perceive. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , Errors in GE |

b. 756-760
|
composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
The missing staccato dot in b. 756 in FC (→GE1) is most probably an oversight. It was also the dot in b. 760 that was overlooked in GE1, which, most probably, is also an oversight. By adding both dots, the reviser of GE2 correctly guessed Chopin's intention. In turn, the origin of the version of GE3 is puzzling, since there is no acceptable reason to remove the dot in b. 760. Consequently, it is either an erroneous revision or a misprint. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE , GE revisions , Errors of FC |
