b. 170-171

composition: Op. 26 No 2, Polonaise in E♭ minor

 in bars 170-171 in A

in bar 171 in FE (→GE,EE)

..

The shift of  hairpins so that they fit in bar 171 is certainly a result of an inaccurate reproduction of A, in which the sign starts clearly at the end of bar 170. It does not seem that the difference could be ascribed a genuine influence on the performance.

b. 170

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

g-c1-e1 in A (→FEEE,GE1no2,GE1opGE2opGE3op)

g-e1 in GE2no2

..

Same as in bar 42, the triad version of the majority of the sources, reproducing – perhaps inaccurately – the difficult to decipher notation of A, is, according to us, most probably erroneous.
