Issues : Errors of GC
b. 59
|
composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor
..
As the lower note of the R. H. chord GC (→GE1) erroneously has b. Although the very fact of making a mistake is doubtless, it is not clear whether the copyist forgot to put in a category imprint: Differences between sources; Source & stylistic information issues: Terzverschreibung error , GE revisions , Errors of GC |

b. 59-60
|
composition: Op. 38, Ballade in F major
..
In A the clearly written category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , Errors in EE , Errors of GC |

b. 60-62
|
composition: Op. 25 No 7, Etude in C♯ minor
..
Among numerous versions of phrasing of the part of the L.H. only two versions of slurring – FE and EE – may be considered as authentic and complete. GC is compatible with EE, however, it lacks the slur in bar 61, which is undoubtedly an inaccuracy; the slurring was then recreated in GE1, with a minor change in bar 62. In GE2 (→GE3), the missing slur in bar 61 was added, by beginning the slur in bar 62 earlier, which is an arbitrary revision. In the main text we give the unquestionable version of EE, while as an alternative version we suggest the clearly different version of FE, in which we replace the slur in bar 62, perhaps inaccurate, with the slur present in GC and EE. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions; Corrections & alterations issues: Inaccuracies in GE , GE revisions , Errors of GC |

b. 61-62
|
composition: Op. 38, Ballade in F major

In GC (→GE) there is no category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: EE inaccuracies , Abbreviated notation of A , Errors of GC |

b. 64
|
composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor
..
In GC this bar is partially empty, i.e. the 2nd and the 3rd beats are missing. As EE and FE give the full version of the bar that is the same for both those sources, it is obvious that GC should have that version as well. GE1 has two crotchet rests added instead, which was changed in GE2 to the correct text probably taken from FE. A similar situation occurs in bar 406. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: GE revisions , Errors of GC |
