On the 4th quaver of the bar in JC, there is a figure which fills a crotchet with its rhythmic values: . According to us, the error consists in writing two-time bigger rhythmic values and could be already in [AI]. This kind of mistakes was frequent in Chopin's works, e.g., in the Nocturne in D major, Op. 27 No. 2, bar 56. The hypothesis allows to explain also the creation of the version of EF: having encountered the error in [AI], Fontana corrected it with the method of as little changes as possible, extending the lower beam. In the main text we give the probably unique authentic rhythm, recreated faultlessly in PE. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Rhythmic errors , Errors of JC |

a1 as the highest note of the chord is most probably an error of JC; it is revealed by f1 which is featured both in EF and PE. Analogously, the compatible presence of the c1 note in this chord in JC and PE leads to a conclusion that its omission is probably an error of EF. In the main text we give the version of PE, which does not raise any doubts. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Terzverschreibung error , Uncertain notes on ledger lines , Errors of JC , Errors in Fontana's editions |

In JC, there is no octave sign over the part of the R.H. in those bars, as a result of which, the entire bar 65 and two triplets in bar 66 are written one octave lower. The awkward blends with the part of the L.H. (the second triplets of both bars) and the compatible version of EF and PE reveal the copyist's error in this place. Similarly in bars 101-102. category imprint: Source & stylistic information issues: Errors of JC |
