In A (→GE1), FE and EE there is no  returning f2 in the penultimate sixth. This patent error was noticed only in GE2 (→GE3) on the occasion of a thorough revision of accidentals – cf. the notes concerning the natural and flat before the previous sixth.

GC (→GE1) includes an erroneous F instead of G in the last chord in the L.H. The unquestionable in this context mistake was corrected in GE2mar (→GE2). Similarly in bar 57.

The slur of GE1 (→FE) is clearly erroneous (put one crotchet too far), which was corrected by the revisers of EE and GE2. In both editions a slur for the L.H. was added, which we consider a correct decision, justified by the authentic slurs in the ending of this movement and by a possible Chopin proofreading of GE1 in bars 1-2.

The slur, combining in A the 4th beat of bar 3 with the chord at the beginning of bar 4, concerned the original (deleted) version of the last crotchet in bar 3, in which the b note was assigned to the L.H. and written on the bottom stave. As a result, one can ponder whether in the new notation of the chord ending bar 3 the sign was to be applied too. However, since Chopin did not delete the slur, we include it in the main text, adjusting only its shape to the present notation. Omission of the slur in the editions seems to be, however, understandable in the face of the described ambiguity.

In FE, the f1 tie is printed slightly inaccurately, so that in GE1 (→GE2) it was misinterpreted as a slur for the bottom voice in the R.H. (in GE3, the mark was omitted).
