b. 149

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

In AsI there are no accidentals before the last two demisemiquavers in the bar. This time, Chopin's patent oversight – cf. analogous b. 137, 141 and 145 – remained unnoticed also in A (→GEFESB,EE1EE2). It was only FE and EE3 that added flats restoring b and b1.

b. 150-155

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

Repeat in AsI, contextual interpretation

No repeat in A (→GEFE,EE,FESB)

..

In AsI b. 152-167 are then repeated, in spite of the absence of repeat signs. It is a result of two versions of b. 166-167, marked as 1. volta and 2. volta. Repetition (carefully marked) was originally also written in A, in which, however, Chopin removed the repeat sign at the beginning of b. 152 (by erasing double dots, as a result of which a double bar line was left) and crossed out 1. volta of b. 166-167. Cf. the analogous shortening of variation I.
In the content transcription, to keep the parallel course of the version of AsI and the remaining ones, we modify the Chopinesque notation, adjusted to the structure of phrases yet uneconomical – instead of starting the repetition from the beginning of the new phrase in b. 152 (which requires re-writing b. 150-151 as 1. volta of b. 166-167), we insert an opening repeat sign before b. 150 and a closing one after b. 165.

b. 150-155

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

As before – cf. b. 140-143 – in AsI the L.H. part is marked in an abridged manner with the word unisono, written in every bar. The alternative L.H. part is written on the same stave, which we change for better legibility of the transcription: we separate the parts by placing the alternative one on an additional stave, as was performed by the other sources.

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

In AsI and A (→GEEE,FESB) the flats restoring e1 and e2 at the end of the bar are missing. The accidentals were added – perhaps at Chopin's request – in FE.
