Pedalling

b. 201-204

composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor

No markings in GE

Pedalling in FE (→EE)

..

As was the case with b. 142-144 and 162-164, the pedal markings of FE (→EE) were most probably introduced by Chopin into the basis for FE.

b. 217-218

composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor

Pedalling in GE

in FE (→EE)

..

The partial lack of pedal markings in FE (→EE) must have resulted from an oversight, by the engraver or the copyist, or perhaps by Chopin himself if FE were based on the second autograph.

b. 221-222

composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor

No markings in GE & EE

Pedalling in FE

..

In the main text we include the pedal markings of FE, added by Chopin probably to the basis for FE. The missing markings in EE are probably the engraver's mistake. See also b. 223.

..

The pedalling of FE is most probably incomplete, hence in the main text we supplement it after analogous b. 221 (as well as 203). The missing markings in EE most probably resulted from an oversight, as in the two preceding bars.

b. 240-241

composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor

    in GE1

No markings in FE (→EE)

   in GE2

..

As was the case with b. 181-182, the missing pedal markings in FE (→EE) suggest that Chopin added them to #A after [FC] had already been finished. The  mark of GE2 having been placed earlier is almost certainly an inaccuracy by the engraver – cf. the compliant version of both GE in b. 181-182.
