b. 1

composition: Op. 28 No. 12, Prelude in G♯ minor

..

After Presto, in A one can see that the further part of the indication was crossed out, most probably con fuoco.

b. 10-11

composition: Op. 28 No. 12, Prelude in G♯ minor

cresc. in bar 10 in A (→FEEE)

cresc. in bar 11 in FC (→GE)

..

B. 10 is written in FC in an abridged manner as a repetition of b. 2, and the cresc. indication present therein was written in b. 11, perhaps to remind us that the dashes concern that very mark. GE, however, considered that version binding instead of the indication in b. 2 (10) and reproduced it literally, omitting the beginning of the crescendo in b. 10.

b. 21

composition: Op. 28 No. 12, Prelude in G♯ minor

under L.H. part in A

in FC (→GE) & FE (→EE)

..

According to us, the position of the  indication under the bottom stave in A does not mean that it refers to the L.H. only. Due to the above reason, in the main text we put it in its usual place, in accordance with the remaining sources.

b. 75-80

composition: Op. 28 No. 12, Prelude in G♯ minor

dim. - - in A

dim. - - in FC (→GE)

dim. in FE (→EE)

..

When interpreted literally, the dim. abbreviation fills an entire bar in A. It resulted in a difference in the placement of the indication between FC (→GE) and FE (→EE). According to us, the manner in which it was written down suggests that it is related to the 3rd beat of the bar, hence in the main text we prefer the placement proposed in FE (→EE). However, those editions overlooked the dashes marking the range of the dynamic change; we add them after A.
