b. 19

composition: Op. 28 No. 17, Prelude in A♭ major

..

The  before the top note of the last R.H. quaver appears only in FCI. This produces no error in A and the sources retaining the original arrangement of chords – FC and GE – for an appropriate  appears on the upper staff before the 2nd L.H. quaver. However, in FE (→EE) which printed the entire L.H. part on the lower staff (as in our transcriptions), the accidental should have been added, but was not.

In A (→FC,FE) as well as in FCI there is no  raising e to e. The obvious Chopin's inaccuracy was corrected in GE and EE.

In GE the top notes of the 3rd and 4th quavers were misplaced, i.e. a third too low (3rd quaver, g-b-d1) or too high (4th quaver, g-f1-a1 when interpreted literally). In the manuscripts and GE those notes are placed on the top stave, among the R.H. quavers, which significantly hampers their interpretation.
