Title: | Vingt-quatre Préludes |
Dedication: | Monsieur Camille Pleyel |
Copy of A made by Julian Fontana (lost, known from a photocopy) as the basis for the first German edition. As a whole, the copyist duplicated the text of A carefully, nonetheless making a number of mistakes, e.g.:
- he did not separate the second R.H. voice (led in quavers) in b. 4 and 36; he also overlooked the additional crotchet stems in b. 13-16 and 29-32;
- he did not realise that b. 16 is not a literal repetition of b. 15, which resulted in the final semiquaver in b. 16 having been changed from a2 to a2.
- instead of dim. - - - in b. 31-32 he wrote dashes only, as a result of which the dynamics in these bars changed to cresc.
For a list of more important flaws of FC in the whole Op. 28 see Prelude in C no. 1. Chopin did not correct FC.
