FC - Fontana's copy

Date: 1839
Title: Vingt-quatre Préludes
Dedication: Monsieur Camille Pleyel

Copy of A made by Julian Fontana (lost, known from a photocopy) as the basis for the first German edition. As a whole, the copyist duplicated the text of A carefully, nonetheless making a number of mistakes, e.g. he omitted the R.H. slur in bar 7, pedal markings in bar 6, and erroneously reproduced the rhythmical values of some notes in bars 4, 19 and 33. In the 2nd half of bar 16 there is F instead of G, a distinct error resulting from an unclear script in A (for a list of more important flaws of FC in the whole Op. 28 see Prelude in C no. 1). Chopin did not correct FC.
