Title: | Twenty four Grand Préludes |
Dedication: | Camille Pleyel |
In the entire Op. 28 EE2 introduced a number of mostly small amendments to the text of EE1a, i.a.:
- added accidentals, e.g. in the Prelude in D major no. 15, b. 75.
Some changes were almost certainly drawn from GE1, as evidenced by the examples of replacing the correct text coming from FE with the erroneous or unjustifiably supplemented text of GE, e.g.
- Prelude in D no. 5, change of a1 to a1 at the end of b. 16,
- Prelude in A no. 7, e added to the 3rd L.H. crotchet in b. 15,
- Prelude in D no. 15, change of f1 to an e1-f1 second in b. 17,
- Prelude in B no. 21, moving e1 from the 6th to the 5th quaver in b. 4,
- Prelude in D minor no. 24, unnecessarily added cautionary accidentals in b. 48-49.
Some of the major changes that are not more or less obvious corrections of the version of EE1 include:
- in the Prelude in D no. 15, additional crotchet stems having been added to the g and a quavers in b. 19;
- in the Prelude in A no. 17 ties added to b1 in b. 44-45 and to c2 in b. 48-49;
In the Prelude in C the text of EE2 does not differ from EE1a.
The copy presented in mUltimate Chopin dates from around 1870, as indicated by the content of its title page*.
