In the main text we suggest that the range of the  mark be compliant with Chopin's entries in all three analogous places (b. 348-349, 442-443, 450-451), since we are convinced that the mark having been shifted in this place is a standard inaccuracy of notation.

The staccato mark in A, despite its smallness, is clearly prolonged (vertically). Both Fontana in FC and the engraver of FE regarded it as a wedge. GE1 and EE changed it to a dot, which can be considered acceptable, taking into account the fact that both passage E major sections feature only dots except for this place, including in analogous b. 438 & 446. GE2 (→GE3) did not include the mark, which could easily be considered an oversight if it were not for the dot in analogous  b. 446, which was also left out.

In A the slurs over the motifs of the bottom voice encompass the quavers only or reach the minim in the next bar. However, the differences are almost certainly of an accidental nature, hence in the main text we unify them, assuming 6-note slurs to be more frequent in A (7 longer, 2 shorter and 3 questionable). Accidental inaccuracies are also present in the remaining sources, except for GE, in which all slurs encompass 5 notes. The majority of the doubts concerning the range of the slurs is due to the ending lines: a slur suggesting continuation is not finished in a new line (b. 418-419 in A and FC, 432-433 in A, 412-413, 420-421 and 428-429 in FE and b. 422-423 in EE). In such situations we give shorter slurs in our transcriptions, just like in b. 426-427 in A and 412-413 in 428-429 in FC, which may be thought to be dubious. EE omitted the slur in b. 420-421. Neither FC nor FE, EE and GE reproduced the notation of the Stichvorlage correctly; however, the total number of inaccuracies in this section is smaller than the first time (b. 310-333).

Instead of a continuous slur for the bass motif, in EE there are two slurs converging on the dotted e minim. It is an inaccuracy, with no actual implications on the performance, which probably results from the fact that in FE b. 444 opens a new line of the text, and the slur in that bar, although it begins before the note, does not suggest continuation with its shape.

Just like in analogous b. 478, A features here a long accent, although its length seems to be less distinct than there. Nevertheless, it was reproduced as a long one not only in FC, but also in FE, which previously contained a short accent. To the main text we adopt a long accent, in accordance with b. 478 and with a slightly longer articulation of these octaves marked by Chopin with rhythmic values: these are minims, and not staccato crotchets, such as in, e.g. the next two bars.
