In b. 531 and 535 in the main text we give the unequivocal whole-bar slurs of A (→FC→GE). However, the longer slurs of FE (→EE) are probably a result of Chopin's proofreading: there is no visible reason for which the engraver would have complicated his work with asymmetrical slurs. Therefore, they can be considered an equivalent variant. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Authentic corrections of FE |

The missing slur in FC must be an oversight, corrected in GE. The shorter slur of FE (→EE) is probably also a mistake. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Errors of FC |

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

The range of the slur over the L.H. crotchets, present only in A, is unclear: its beginning falls on between the 1st and 2nd octave in b. 539. According to us, it is much more likely that the slur starts from the beginning of the bar, which is indicated by the shape of the slur. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness issues: Inaccurate slurs in A |
