Slur from quaver in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

Slur from semiquavers in GE3

..

A later start of the slur in GE3, although seemingly justified, is probably contrary to Chopin's final intention. The traces visible in FE prove that the four-bar slur starting from the 1st quaver resulted from proofreading – originally, these bars were provided with shorter slurs, out of which the first one, encompassing bar 496 only, most probably started after the 1st quaver. 2 slurs in sources

1 slur – our alternative suggestion

..

In FE, one can see traces of proofreading of the slurs in bars 501-503 – originally, each of those bars was encompassed with a separate slur. If we take into account that Chopin combined also the slurs over bars 496-497, one can ponder whether leaving a musically unjustified division of the slur between bars 500-501 was intentional. It is likely that the proofreading was supposed to concern this place too, yet it was inaccurately implemented.

b. 516-517

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

..

Originally, the slur of the R.H. encompassed only bar 517, which may be observed on the basis of the traces of its proofreading, visible in FE at the beginning of this bar.
